I am a firm believer that writing finds the form it needs. I write poetry, fiction, memoir, non-fiction and also plays. What does drama do that other forms don’t?
In a poem, there is one voice. In drama, there as many as you wish. These voices can be individual people, the elements (for example, the Moon in Lorca’s Blood Wedding) or a chorus which in early Greek drama sang and amplified the themes of the drama.
I have had three full-length plays produced and am working on a fourth. I’ve also been part of a regular writing group at the Marlowe Theatre where I have enjoyed experimenting with shorter pieces.
